When we think about our time at home, we tend to think of the time we spend with the family in the living room, eating a meal, or the time we get to sleep in our beds. Although spending time with the family is great and whilst we may spend a huge proportion of our lives in bed, there is no reason to forget the bathroom – it’s where we start and finish the day! Here are some brilliant tips for decorating a bathroom.
A bathroom competes with the kitchen as one of the most used areas of the home. While it serves a necessary and functional purpose, the bathroom is also a space to inject your personal style, and nothing beats a fresh coat of paint to accomplish just that. Choose an appropriate tile color or paint your walls with the perfect shade you selected. Colors can make or break the look of your room, so it’s important to pick the perfect tile color for your bathroom. From glass tiles to natural stones, there’s a colored tile that will fit your personal taste and room’s theme. When dealing with paints, it’s no longer necessary to choose gloss in a bathroom to combat moisture, ask the paint shop to add an additive to matte paint to keep it from mildewing.
A side from practical considerations, lighting is also an important design that can help your bathroom look its best. The lighting may be natural or artificial and may be supplied at a variety of heights and from a variety of directions. There’s a great variety of affordable lighting fixtures available. Consider replacing both fixtures themselves and the placement in order to get a rich look in your bathroom. Be original when upgrading lighting. Bathroom lighting trends include hanging pendants and light bars that diffuse light in a room. Select LED lighting fixtures since they’re the most energy efficient and don’t heat your bathroom up.
There is a lot of hardware in a bathroom, including cabinet knobs, towel bars, sink faucets, and toilet flush handles. New hardware can add showroom-quality shine and sparkle to the bath. A quick and easy bathroom decorating idea involves changing out your bathroom’s hardware like drawer pulls, towel bars and the toilet paper holder. Replacement is as simple as unscrewing or popping off the old hardware and adding a new one.
Decluttering the bathroom will give it a freshly updated look. If you’re space challenged, look at how you can improve on existing storage. Adding pull-out drawers (that sort items easier) into a cabinet is an easy weekend upgrade. Other ways to maximize storage include: floating wall shelves, wall mounted baskets and adding a small furniture-style cabinet to the room.
